Legally correct and acceptable procedures are to be followed in the event the donor of a drug specimen produces a non-negative screening test result. In such cases the non-negative specimen is to be properly packaged with an established chain of custody and sent to a certified laboratory for further testing. Upon receipt of a specimen the certified lab proceeds to run a confirmation test using a GCMS Spectrometer Method.

On-Site Screening and Immediate Results:
The process begins with on-site “screening” tests, which are performed quickly and efficiently. The results are available within two to five minutes. If the screening is negative, the test process is complete.
Handling Non-Negative Screening Results:
In cases where the screening is inconclusive or presumed positive, further steps are taken based on state legal requirements, company policies, and employment status of the person being tested.
Specimen Collection and Chain of Custody:
When a non-negative result occurs, lab services of a certified lab are needed to confirm the initial findings. The collection specimen is securely sealed, and a chain of custody form is completed. The chain of custody is meticulously maintained to ensure specimen integrity throughout the process. The specimen is then transported via overnight courier to our government-certified laboratory for confirmation testing, at no additional cost to the client.
Confirmation Testing and Laboratory Analysis:
Our laboratories perform confirmation testing within one to three business days. This process may involve incubation for certain substances, which can extend processing times. The laboratory conducts scientifically sophisticated analyses to verify initial results. If the confirmation is negative, all relevant parties are promptly notified via secure email. If positive, results are securely transmitted solely to the Medical Review Officer (MRO). The typical laboratory fee ranges from $25 to $45 per test.
